Away from Keyboard Inc. is an Australian registered charity built on a single conviction: most digital harm was preventable. It just wasn't looked for early enough. AFK works upstream, before harm becomes crisis, through trauma-informed community education, digital safeguarding, and ethical technology advocacy. Its flagship tool, Alt-TAB, is the most comprehensive free pre-deployment ethics and Safety by Design assessment for AI and emerging technology, used by organisations to find harm pathways before they deploy. AFK supports children, carers, women, and vulnerable communities across Australia and contributes to international conversations on ethical AI, child safeguarding, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence prevention.

Digital harm extends far beyond social media. It appears in gaming environments, private messaging platforms, automated systems, AI-driven technologies, and online spaces that can influence behaviour, relationships, identity, and emotional wellbeing.
These harms can include exploitation, coercion, manipulation, scams, dependency, grooming, and psychological distress, often amplified by systems operating without sufficient safeguards or accountability.
Away From Keyboard Inc. responds through trauma-informed support, prevention-focused education, safeguarding initiatives, and systems advocacy that not only help people recover from harm but work upstream to reduce vulnerability before harm escalates.

It carries into daily life, affecting mental health, relationships, behaviour, and identity. Yet this connection is often overlooked or misunderstood.
AFK bridges that gap, supporting people not just in navigating online spaces but in rebuilding balance, safety, and control beyond them.

AFK believes online exploitation, grooming, coercive digital behaviours, technology-facilitated abuse, and unsafe online environments are critical child safeguarding and community safety issues requiring prevention-focused responses, stronger safeguards, and earlier intervention.

AFK does not accept donations on behalf of other organisations or individuals, and we do not act as a conduit for the transfer of funds to other entities. This policy ensures compliance with legal obligations for harm prevention charities and affirms our commitment to financial transparency and integrity.
