School-Based Workshops

Free Digital Safety & Literacy Talks for Your School Community

Away from Keyboard (AFK) Inc. offers free in-person and online sessions for schools, designed to support students, parents, and educators in building confidence, safety, and digital wellbeing in an ever-changing online world. All sessions are trauma-informed, utilise resources from the eSafety Commissioner, and are delivered with compassion, drawing on lived experience and practical advice.

We believe every family deserves access to clear, judgment-free digital safety education, regardless of their location.

For Students (Primary & Secondary)

Helping young people become safe, respectful, and aware digital citizens.

Our student workshops are age-appropriate, interactive, and grounded in real-life examples. We cover topics such as cyberbullying, gaming safety, social media use, privacy, scams, and managing screen time. Students leave with practical strategies, stronger critical thinking, and the reassurance that it’s okay to ask for help.

Workshop titles include:

  • Level Up: How to Stay Safe While Gaming and Chatting Online

  • You’re Not Alone: Handling Cyberbullying and Building Digital Resilience

  • Your Feed, Your Choice: Understanding Algorithms, Privacy and Your Power

  • Screens, Scams & Self-Respect: Being Smart and Safe Online

  • The Truth About Likes: Social Media, Friendship and Finding Balance

For Parents and Carers

Helping you feel confident in guiding your child’s online world.

Our parent sessions are honest, practical, and non-judgmental. We help carers understand the risks children may face online, such as grooming, coercion, or exposure to harmful content, and how to respond effectively. We also talk through ways to build trust, set healthy boundaries, and navigate gaming, apps, and devices with confidence.

Workshop titles include:

  • What’s My Child Clicking On? Navigating Apps, Games and Online Risks

  • Raising Digitally Safe Kids: Tools Every Carer Needs to Know

  • From Concerned to Confident: A Parent’s Guide to Online Safety

  • The Hidden Dangers: Grooming, Scams and Coercive Control Online

  • Talking Tech with Teens: Building Trust, Setting Boundaries

For Educators and Wellbeing Staff

Creating safer school cultures and equipping teachers with the tools to support students.

These sessions are designed to support school staff in identifying online harm, responding to disclosures, and embedding digital safety into classroom practices. We also cover digital literacy, respectful relationships education, and strategies for supporting neurodivergent and vulnerable students online.

Workshop titles include:

  • Digital Safety in the Classroom: What Every Educator Needs to Know

  • Supporting Vulnerable Students in Digital Spaces

  • Online Harm and Trauma: Recognising and Responding Early

  • Teaching Digital Literacy with Confidence and Care

  • From Risk to Resilience: Embedding eSafety Across the Curriculum
